Bringing East Coast Bagels to Middle America
Being from the land of the best bagels on earth (we’re a little biased…), we can tell you there is just nothing like a true New York or New Jersey bagel (the feud of which is best will carry on centuries from now). The creators of Old School Bagel agree, but saw an opportunity to bring the heavenly, pillowy chew of a Brooklyn bagel to the heartland of America: Oklahoma.
As the brand grew, they needed to hone their story to both help the customer understand the roots of the culinary process, but not feel to out of touch with the local demographic. Studio D then helped develop a comprehensive brand communication system including logo, environmental graphics, key messaging related to the local staff, quality of the bagel and emotions you feel while enjoying the delicious product. In a nutshell, you’ll find your “happy place” no matter how you experience Old School.
Once the design strategy was in place, VGS then fabricated and installed all exterior signage (main signage, drive thru system, permitting etc), interior signage & décor, graphics and some lite millwork (pickup shelves) in a total of 6 locations throughout Oklahoma. The prototypes have been a huge success, and a couple of them broke records for first week opened (with the “honeymoon” period extending well past expectations).
The end-to-end, ideation to execution approach VGS/Studio D takes to projects like this allowed Old School to focus on what it does best – making delicious, reminds of you of the east coast style bagels.
